The 536. end

Today, the annual Basle autumn fair has ended for the 536th time since its inception in 1471 CE. Despite of being a somewhat traditional affair, it's a major event for our small town, second only to its well known carnival, the Fasnacht. Unfortunately, I didn't get round to seeing much of it this time round. And tomorrow, I am off to Istanbul, Turkey.

My German is really bad but I got some of the words on the Basel fair website. Does the map show different parts of town where one can find stands?

This fair is so old... Can you imagine? From the time of Columbus and the Great Geographic Discoveries! And it never skipped a year?

Yep, filip, that's exactly the point of the map. You can see that the fun is spreading all over the place.

About skipping: I am not sure, it might have skipped a year during the plague or some such occasion. I'll let you know.
