Going-away party in Japanese company

We usually have going-away party when our colleague is transfered or leaves the company.
We eat and drink together to celebrate and encourage their new start after work.
The main party begins around 7pm and lasts 2 hours.
The boss gives a toast. Some of colleagues make a short speech during the party.
After that, some are going home, the others are going to after-party.
They are continuing drinking or going to "Karaoke Bar".

I'll introduce one of the biggest Karaoke company.
You can see this logo in most big cities in Japan.

What do you do in your country when your collegue leaves the company?

The same with you, we also used to do farewell party at that time as personal relationship. But, some company arrange this party with company's funds.

We will also have farewell parties, with food and drink. Alcohol is sometimes served, but that depends on the company and the individual.

And while some Americans enjoy Karaoke (maybe 20%?), most don't. So the party might move to a local nightclub, but not many to Karaoke bars.
